According to Mz Fit today is National Love Your Body Day.
She had quite a nice post about why she loves her body.
I, on the other hand, am only mildly infatuated with my body: in all honesty, there is just too much of it! Don't get me wrong - I know things could be worse - - and they have been!
Thankfully, things are (sloooooooowly) beginning to be better. I can walk without huffing and puffing or having my knees or ankles hurt. I can swim more laps at the pool than I could a few weeks ago. I can get on the treadmill or elliptical without fear. I am beginning to run again. This weekend I'm starting a curling class.
I want to start working with weights again. I eventually want to take a Zumba and a Spin and a Kickboxing class.
Today I had to go clothes shopping - I've not lost a lot of weight but enough that my current jeans are too lose. Last spring I got 2 pairs of size 18 jeans at Old Navy. I wore them for a few weeks and then, when I was in California, started wearing shorts. I finally gave up the ghost a few weeks ago and admitted it was no longer shorts weather. Oddly enough - both size 18 jeans no longer fit the same! One is tight and the other was comfortable - possibly because I've worn it more and it has stretched out of shape. This weekend is an engagement party for a friend. Both jeans are too ratty to wear to the party - so off I went to see if I could find anything.
At Old Navy I checked out the clearance rack. I found 2 pairs of jeans on the '1/2 off the clearance price' rack. So - 2 pairs of jeans and an exercise shirt for $15. yay! Both jeans are size 18 - but they fit comfortably. Hopefully I won't need them for very long!

NSV!
My Non Scale Victory? Clothes!
Believe it or not - I hate shopping for clothes. When I find something I like, or something that fits, I usually buy 3 or 4 of them and just wear them all the time. I have 4 white, 3 grey and 2 navy Hanes Her Way t-shirts that I wear all the time. I think I paid $3.99 each at AJWrights. And jeans: last winter I discovered Steve & Barry's. I found boot cut jeans that I liked and fit me well - - although they were men's jeans. (Absolutely no chance of fitting into their women's jeans). So I ended up buying 5 pair. Same with a lot of other stuff - mostly men's jeans and women's plus size t-shirts or Hawaiian shirts. A few odd hoodies - which I really don't like but wear because they're such a baggy fit.
This morning - as I was getting stuff ready for the laundry - I thought "Maybe I should go through my closet - get rid of a few things." In all honesty I wanted to get rid of a stuff that is too small and never especially liked. So I pulled out all the jeans. The S&B jeans I got in January? I had hoped to get rid of a few when I was in CA in April but I had gained weight while there and ended up keeping them. Tried them on today - they are a bit loose! So 4 pairs went to the charity pile - I kept 1 pair as a reminder of how big I'd let myself get. Another pair of jeans went despite the fact I can fit them - I just don't like the way they fit...the waist is too high.
Now, I'm a bit of a pack rat - and I'm the worst when it comes to clothes. So I had a bunch of jeans that I hadn't worn/fit into in quite a while. I tried them all on today - there are maybe 10 pairs of jeans that I can now fit - my face won't get all red because I have to suck in my gut to do them up! And going through them - I can remember where I bought each pair. scary!
And I checked the summer shorts - 2 pairs now fit! There is one pair that I can put on but the fit is a bit too tight, and 3 pairs of denim shorts that are still too small. whee! Now I won't have to wear the same 4 or 5 shorts to work all the time!
Also checked the 2 skirts I own - they both fit - not as snug as before but not loose enough to give away yet.
I'll go through the shirts later today or tomorrow.

Day off. BMI. Wii. Unmentionables.
Day off work for me today! There's a soccer game at 7:30 and since I'm on the night shift I thought I'd give myself a little holiday.
Went to the gym today - no session with the trainer, just me working out on my own.
I took a class - ab work. I can't do a sit up to save my soul. ugh. But I did pretty well on the other stuff - light weight work, push ups, step work, stretching. It was an hour long class. Then I did 20 minutes on the eliptical (2 min. slow, 2 min. fast), took a break, another 10 minutes. I wanted to do more but just didn't have it in me. So I grabbed a magazine and read while I rode a bike - 30 min. at a slow pace (just over 3 miles, I think) - time just flew by.
Had Japanese for lunch - tofu, rice, veggies.
More shopping - this time for fatigue relief pads. Going to use those to work out on when I don't go to the gym. Also picked up a birthday gift for a friend's daughter.
Last night I set up my Wii and put in the WiiFit. I haven't played it since the weekend I bought it in May. According to my old stats my weight was 228 and my BMI was 40.27. Yesterday my numbers were 227 and 40. 23. I deleted that mii and will create a new one and try to do a Wii work-out every day. And I also found a Wii dance game. Perhaps I'll add that to the mix - hopefully I'll not only lose a bit of weight but also gain some rhythm!
As for BMI - Sharon has been blogging about the ridiculousness of this standard of fat measurement. I've heard for ages that it is inaccurate but some part of me still wants to at least fall within its "overweight" range.
I wrote before about my sports bra. I rather like it - it keeps the girls down and the velcro straps make it more comfortable than any other sports bra I've had. Since I'm working out at least 5 times a week I think I'll need another one. Laura had a great post yesterday about being "A Fit Woman" - it is a great quote from Missy Parker, the founder of Title Nine. I am thinking about buying this one when I get a few dollars ahead! Some of their clothes look really nice too - maybe I'll get some when I'm able to fit into them. :-)
Also liking Bravissimo. When my sister and I went to London in January I made an appointment for her here. (I didn't need new bras at the time but she bought several and swears they are awesome). They sent the summer catalogue to her the other day - I love that all the women actually look like the deomographic the store targets. I'm tired of seeing adverts with "plus size models" that I could fold up and put in my pocket. And I don't think I've seen a commercial like this over here!
