Weekend

On Friday I left my food journal with my trainer. He wanted to get an idea of what and how much I'm eating. Since there was no journal I told myself that it was a free weekend!
Well, not really. I knew I had to keep track of what I would be eating but I wasn't going to stress over it.

Instead of dinner I went to Dairy Queen and had a Peanut Buster Parfait. Well it went down great and was so welcome on such a hot day I must admit that peanuts don't like me much anymore! When did that happen?!?
I went home, since I'm still having internet problems, read for a bit. The book wasn't all that great so I turned in early.

Saturday - I had Cheerios for breakfast. Then I went to an internet cafe to check an email from a friend of a friend. A bunch of us were supposed to get together for brunch before the DYKE March. But she hadn't told me which restaurant. I ended up heading downtown but got there shortly before the March started. So I grabbed a slice of pizza and a 700ml bottle of Pepsi.
The March was a lot of fun - as they usually are. Maybe it is just me but I think there were more participants this year.
Then I wandered around the Village for a bit but didn't see anyone I knew. Took lots of pics - still sorting through them.
Headed home - picked up another slice of pizza and another bottle of Pepsi.
Sunday - Cheerios for breakfast. Puttered around the apartment. It seemed a bit overcast but it cleared up so I decided to head to the Pride Parade. Got off the subway at Bloor just as the Parade was starting. I managed to find a spot near some construction buildings. A bunch of us climbed up on some trailer thing. I could see over people's heads but couldn't see much of the marchers - unless they were on flatbed trucks or on stilts!
After an hour and a half I was hungry so I ducked into a pub and had chicken fingers and fries while I watched the last half of the Euro final game. I also had 2 large Strongbows.
After the game I walked around the Village - lots more pics. Drank a couple bottles of water. Was mad at myself because I forgot my sun block. Then, around 7, I was absolutely starving! It was sort of scary because I remember how my mom, a diabetic, would get really hungry within an hour or so of eating. So I had a hot dog and a can of Pepsi. More walking around the Village. Then I headed home - got in around 9pm. I loaded my pics onto my laptop - it turns out that I took over 650 pics at the parade!
Monday - Awake around 7am. Had yogurt for breakfast - then headed off to the gym. Usual warm-up. My trainer wasn't in when I checked the office so I checked my weight. The scale has been messed with - one part of it still measures in pounds but then the sliding part measures in metric! So I weigh 200 pounds, 13 kgs. hmmm. My metric conversion isn't great so I thought my weight went up! So - feeling like I deserved it because of the pizza and Strongbows I went to the eliptical, cranked up the tension and started working out. After about 5 minutes my trainer showed up. We talked about the weekend - I told him about the beers and the pub grub. So we skipped the weigh-in and went straight to the gym floor and started working out.
He said he checked my journal - apparently I don't eat enough fruits, need more lean protein and have to be more consistent with the calories I take in. He's going to make an appointment with the nutritionist at the gym until my doctor can get me in to see a dietician. *sigh*
When I got to work I had 1/2 a bran muffin from the craft services table. For lunch Kim and I went to Swiss Chalet - I had a chicken quesidilla with a side of wild rice and a Pepsi.
Around 4 I got a Pepsi. Right now I'm thinking I'll have spaghetti for dinner.
Just before I started this post I checked my weight on a kilogram to pounds converter: 13kgs = 28.6 pounds. So, despite the pizzas and beer and hot dog and ice cream and Pepsis - I LOST a pound! Granted - it isn't an optimal diet! ;-) Certainly not going to continue eating that way.
Hopefully this will be a clean eating week. Have to head to the grocery store and pick up some stuff.
BTW - I told the trainer that I stopped eating apples because they just made me hungrier. He said that was a good thing. So - more apples in my future!

229.8 - Another Catch up

Wednesday:
A good session at the gym - worked on upper body strength. I totally aced everything until the very last exercise he had me do. I had to kneel on a boson (?) and lift a 20 pound barbell above my head (17 reps). The first 10 reps were fine but then my legs felt so weak - I swear I could see the muscles jumping in the wall mirrors! I stretched and finished. But I was so wiped - my arms and legs were just limp noodles. But I struggled thru the other 3 repeats - took me ages and my arms were on fire at the end but I did it.

The good news is that my weight was DOWN! Just a shade under 230. Excellent. Hopefully I'll be able to drop some more this week.

Still no internet - but I've figure out why. A few months ago, somehow, a company in Korea managed to charge almost $5,000 on my credit card. I managed to get those charges dropped and had to get a new credit card. But I forgot to notify my internet company that I had a new card. So they've cut my service. Will clear this up!

Since I couldn't surf I managed some housework - cleaning cupboards and doing laundry.

Had a slight headache all afternoon - couldn't think why until I realized that I hadn't had a Pepsi at all! Since I don't drink coffee that is my only source of caffeine.

Thursday:
Woke up very sore! Stumbled thru the day. Took my lunch to work: cheese sandwich, salad, apple. No Pepsi. But Albert and Mike ordered a pizza for lunch. About 2 hours after I ate I caved and had a slice. You know that one slice is never enough, right? One thin slice is like a gateway drug to yet more. I only had that at work but for dinner I had 2 slices and a Pepsi for dinner. My bad.

Went to the gym after work. A very good warm-up - did some sit ups and push ups and other ab work. Then cardio - not a lot though.

However - I didn't work as hard as I could. My TOM started and I just felt all blah. But, I realized, that I managed to lose a few pounds despite my period. That made me feel a lot better.

Friday:
It seemed really humid when I woke up this morning - I just couldn't get comfortable. So I got up, had a quick breakfast, showered and shaved my legs.
Got to the gym and did a good warm up - plus some sit up (on the ball). Then went for a quick weight check (which wasn't all that great 230lbs 4oz!) and then rode a bike until the trainer showed up. After a few minutes I realized that my workout shirt was on backwards! Yikes. Went to the bathroom and fixed my mistake and when I went back to the floor my trainer wasn't there. So on the bike and started pedalling. Then my trainer showed up - he'd been looking for me downstairs. So then we went to the office for a weigh in - hmmmm, I was back to being under 229lbs 8oz! So going to the bathroom made a huge difference! I didn't even pee that much!
Today was Cardio Day with the trainer - - - I swear he's trying to kill me! Two minutes warm up then two minutes at INTENSE, then repeat for 20 minutes. Then to the side room for sit-ups (12 X 4) and some lifts (12 x4). Then back to the eliptical for one minute light walking, two minutes at INTENSE, repeat for 20 minutes. Then back to the side room for more sit ups (10 x 4). I swear my legs were noodles and my face was really, really red. But, as soon as I caught my breath, I felt great!
The only thing - I exercised away the few calories I had for breakfast. So I got a smoothie.
Japanese for lunch - tempura veggies, cucumber sushi, edamame and water. Had some almonds for a snack - going to stop taking apples as they only seem to make me hungrier.

230 -

Yay! After a weekend of not doing much I managed to show a loss! go me. ;-)

Sunday - a lazy day for me - so when I woke up I just laid in bed and read. When I finally rolled out of bed I prepped some fruit that have been on the kitchen counter - kiwis and a mango. A late breakfast of multigrain Cheerios at 11am. Around 2 or 3 I started snacking: kiwi slices, a few pieces of mango. Then a little later, while I was watching Euro2008 I had some almonds, and after that some flax seed crackers. Around 6pm I realized I hadn't had a proper lunch and it was already dinner time. So I fixed some whole wheat spaghetti with roasted red pepper sauce (from a jar) and a slice of multigrain bread.
Did a few little jobs around the apartment and made some phone calls. Then watched some tv and checked the blogs. To bed around midnight.
Monday - a good night's sleep. However - didn't wake up until almost 8 and I had to be at the gym before 9! So just yogurt for breakfast: 200gm X2.
Perhaps that slight "meal" accounted for my weight being down? Hopefully I don't end up eating like that very often. Anyway - got to the gym by 8:40 so I had time to change and do a thorough warm-up.
A good session with the trainer - more circuits, some leg work and then 10 minutes of cardio at the end of it.
Work went well. I had packed some snacks - a can of Pepsi for my lunch, water, flax seed crackers, a stringy cheese stick and 2 yogurts. Had the yogurts as soon as I got to work. A chicken quesidia and salad for lunch. But instead of the stuff I brought in I snacked on an Oh Henry! bar around 3. Then an hour later someone got a KitKat bar and gave me a stick of it.
Dinner was a Lean Cuisine meal (cheese ravioli), slice of bread and a Pepsi. Yeah - I know 2 Pepsis a day isn't a good thing - but, it did last me all evening. Which was really bad as I didn't fall asleep until after 1am! Serves me right. Although.....I did finally finish the book I was reading on Sunday. :-)

Tuesday - since I had problems falling asleep I also had problems waking up. On top of that my left eye was bothering me - something had gotten into it during the night. Not painful but I can feel a slight twinge when I blink sometimes.
Anyway - a late morning. So I took a quick shower, hunted down my security pass for work, threw some snacks into my backpack and off to work I went.
Talk about HUNGRY! Had the 2 yogurts as soon as I got to work. Still hungry but I drank some water and waited a bit. No good - still hungry. So I ate the stringy cheese. Still hungry. Repeat as before. Then I started on the flax seed crackers. For some reason they're not that tasty so I don't have much. I did, however, manage to avoid the craft services table! No donuts or muffins for me.
Lunch was a ham and turkey sandwich with fries and a Pepsi. I have some almonds in case I get peckish later but I doubt that will happen. Water is replenished too.
After work tonight I shall go to the gym and do a cardio session. Dinner shall be either spaghetti or a sandwich pocket. Although - maybe a protein shake would be better?

There was quite a bad rainstorm yesterday. When I got home my cable service was out. For some reason my tv service is back but not my internet. So no blog surfing last night. Instead I played solitaire or Collapse. To bed early but couldn't fall asleep so I finished a book.

Feeling good about the weight loss. It does look like I've only lost 2 lbs this month but in all honesty it is a great deal more - - my weight yo-yo'd quite a bit all month. Even in the past week I was at 231, 233, 234, 232, and 230.5. Hopefully things will continue this downward trend!

230.5 Killer Cardio

So Friday was test day at the gym. My trainer checked my weight - not down as much as he wanted me to be but at least down a bit.
Then a killer cardio workout. Lunges (with and without weights) for the length of the gym - maybe 20 huge steps each way X 3. Then up and down the staircase 20 (?) steps x 3. The first was the best time - obviously. Totally beat the last time - and over a minute off the very first time I ever did it. Then upstairs to test on the eliptical. 1 minute at a low speed - target heart rate of 130. Then 2 minutes at a higher speed - target heart rate 150ish. 20 minutes total. After that went into a side room and tried to do sit ups. Still can't do them when laying on the floor. (On an exercise ball it's no problem). So I ended up laying on a weight bench and lifting my knees to a 90 degree angle. Which I felt in my abs more than with the sit ups. Then back out for another 20 minutes of testing on the eliptical. I was so wiped after that. Took a nice long hot shower and then went to work.

Seems for the next 2 or 3 weeks I'll be working with the trainer for 3 sessions a week. Wow. He hopes he'll have me under 230 by next week and no doubt a few pounds lower than that by time these 3 sessions a week are done. Believe it or not I am really looking forward to it. I'm very lazy - which is one of the reasons I've gotten so fat. That and too many french fries and too much Pepsi.
So I'm determined to get to the gym early and actually get some cardio done before each session. And really work harder. I do work hard now and my trainer loves that I never complain that something is too hard or quit or refuse to do anything. I figure I'm paying him plenty to make me work as hard as possible - I don't want him taking it easy on me.

I really need to work on losing weight. These 1lb here or 1/2 lb there isn't going to cut it. I should be down a lot more than this by now.

As for my eating: I haven't been the best this week. A lot of eating out but it has been healthier than what I usually eat.
Monday - Breakfast and lunch were sensile. Then the Pop Tarts made their appearance. Dinner was a burger combo at Wendy's. And more Pop Tarts.
Tuesday: Sensible breakfast and lunch. Last of the Pop Tarts. Dinner was West Indian food. I was working the late shift and Jen was praising this West Indian place she always goes to. So I went with her and got a vegetarian roti and something called "Doubles" - which is chick peas in a curry sauce on some sort of deep fried bun. Everything was awesome!
Wednesday: granola for breakfast, salad and a BLT and a Pepsi for lunch. Dinner was a salad, carrots, vegetable burrito.
Thursday: Red River for breakfast. Lunch: I remembered to actually pack a lunch! Cheese sandwich, salad, Pepsi. And a couple snacks. dinner was quite late as I went to the gym after work to do my cardio - 30 minutes, break, 20 minutes on the eliptical. Anyway - dinner was mac & cheese, slice of multi-grain bread and a Pepsi.
Friday: overslept a bit so a very light breakfast - a 100 gm container of yogurt. Good thing I didn't eat more or it would have all come back on me during the cardio! Was starving by the time I got to work so I went to grab a muffin from the craft services table. However - they were all gone! Ended up having a chocolate dipped doughnut. MY BAD! Lunch was Japanese - didn't do vegetarian this week. I had the grilled beef, sticky rice, brocolli (usually I don't like it but I ate most of it this time. It actually was quite good - crispy rather than mushy and bland), salad, cucumber sushi and a Pepsi. And green tea ice cream. For dinner I went to get vegetable sushi but they were out so I ended up having the Tofu special and a ginger ale.
Today: Breakfast - cereal. Lunch was a hot dog and an iced tea while I was at the game. Bag of chips during the half. Then I had an ice cream while waiting for the parking lot to clear out. On the way home I thought I'd fix up some spaghetti. But as I was driving down the street I suddenly had a craving for West Indian "Doubles." So I went to Jen's fave place and asked about them. They were all gone! But the girl said that if I "had a hankering" (seriously - that's what she said! Imagine that with a West Indian accent! I don't even say "hankering.") for that then I should try a Channa. It is the chick pea and curry sauce in a roti instead of the deep fried bun. So I got one. Awesome!

during dinner I was channel surfing and came across a repeat of the Russia and Netherlands match. So I sat down and watched that. Done a bit of reading and have been blog spotting.
Going to head to bed soon.

Tomorrow I hope to get to the gym for some cardio, do some laundry and watch the Euro match.

232 hmmmm....cheese

Today was good - mostly.
Woke up early, had granola for breakfast and headed to the gym.
Usual warm-up but have also started doing sit-up (exercise ball). Today I did 10, 20, 20, 20, 15, 15. Great workout - he started me on circuit training. Three exercises X20 seconds X3 reps. Started with squats, oblique turns, lifting weights (20lbs). Next was push ups, rowing (with 30 lb barbell) and squats. Then obliques, jumping on/off step, push ups. Then some sit ups on an exercise ball 10 X 4. (egads - 140 in total!). Finished up with 20 minutes on eliptical. So totally winded when I was done. Took a nice long shower and headed to work.

Kim is back at work! She had extended her maternity because her son had some health issues, then her daughter started having night terrors. Then she just needed to relax! I was finally able to give her the blanket I made for her son. And some gifts I've gotten her daughter. It's strange - we're good friends but it seems we talk on the phone more than were actually able to get together. And because our shifts rotate we have to double check our schedules to see when we'll be working together again. (rest of this week and most of next week). So - we'll be able to do lunch!

I almost fell asleep during some downtime this afternoon. I was waiting for Albert to finish editing something I needed and so I just sat down and was watching CNN. Leaned back in the chair and felt myself drifting off. Then Marion came in with some more work for me and my naptime was over. darn! >:-I

After work I went to the library. Had some fines I had to pay. Renewed one book. Walked around for a bit. Went to Shoppers Drug Mart and got some of the soy milk that's on sale. Then to Dominion to pick up some cereal.

Had grilled cheese sandwich and a salad for dinner. Now just surfing around and watching tv.

Have to do some laundry tomorrow before work. Also have to do cardio at some point.

ETA: As you can see - I've gained a pound! When my trainer saw that he asked what happened. I almost told him about the Pop Tarts. No doubt that is why the work out was so intense today.

231 - Another catch-up

Friday I was supposed to have a session with the trainer but he mixed up the schedules and had someone booked. So I went to the gym anyway and did some cardio.
Japanese for lunch.

Saturday was spent lazing around the apartment and watching Euro until I left for the game. Scott was supposed to come with me but he had an event at his mother's nursing home. I called a guy from work but he was out. Ended up texting my trainer. Met him at the stadium. good game - TFC won! Had a slice of pizza and a beer there.

Sunday - another lazy day. Didn't eat regular meals - mostly snacked all day. Very bad!

Monday - at the gym at 10am to make up for the session I missed on Friday. My weight was down 1lb. He wants me to lose another 3 this week! So it was a really intense 45 minute work-out. Then 15 of cardio.
Afterwards I went and picked up some groceries - lots of fresh fruit. Also picked up some Pop Tarts - a huge mistake! Had a packet while watching the Euro. Another as a snack later in the evening. My bad.

Tuesday - Last night I was reading in bed - and I fell asleep. Next thing I know it's 2am and I'm too lazy to get up and turn the light off. Woke up around 8. Had some bran cereal. Off to the gym around 11. Have added some extra stuff to my usual warm-up stuff. Then 30min of cardio, quick break and another 15.
Then I went to a different grocery store since they had a sale on berries. They're all rinsed and bagged and in the freezer. Yesterday I went to a store to pick up a blender that was on sale but they were out of stock. So all the berries are waiting until I can make smoothies!

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Was awake around 7 this morning - but laid in bed for a while. Didn't have breakfast.
Poked around until had to leave for work. Had a bran muffin when I got to work.
Work was a bit crazy - hella busy for a bit but then evened out.
For lunch I had an egg salad sandwich, baked Ritz crackers and a Pepsi. I really should check the calories on the Ritz - I have a feeling I won't like it. And I'm sure they are far too salty for my own good.

After work I went to the drug store and picked up more Pepsi and the Vanity Fair with Angelina Jolie on the cover.

B had called while I was out. Returned her call and we ended up griping about Keith and Tom for almost an hour. They're up to their usual stuff. Brothers!
She said that before she thought I'd just say K was pulling a scam so I wouldn't have to loan him money. But today when he was talking she realized that he was lying to her and just though "Oh - that's what she meant about smelling a scam!" Yep - one of those things you learn on your own.

After that I went to the gym - 1/2 hr. on eliptical, 10 minute break then 1/2 hr. on a different machine. I tried the treadmill in between but my instep hurt a bit so I changed. The time on the machines wasn't too bad - I was watching the rebroadcast of the Euro games.

Came home and watched a bit of tv, surfed. Had 2 small yogurts (100 gm each).

Obviously today wasn't a good eating day - for a change I didn't eat enough - no vegetables at all. I think I drank enough water, though.

Catching up

Since I wasn't able to post at my sister's (her computer died) and was lazy the rest of the time - it is time to play catch up.
Here's what's happened the past few days:

Friday:
Got a late start on my way out of town.
On the drive to my sister's I had a burger combo from Wendy's.
A very late arrival at B's - and then we stayed up late chatting about stuff. She had the AC going - plus the overhead fan. I was freezing and had to pull a quilt on.

Saturday:
Awake around 9:30. Had 2 cookies for breakfast, 2 more for lunch. We were going to have a BBQ but the propane tank was empty so ended up broiling the steaks. Also had potato salad, feta & tomato salad, and corn on the cob.

Sunday:
Awake around 8:30. Scrambled eggs and 1 slice of toast for breakfast. Then B and I went to Detroit to get Tom's bus ticket. He'll be going to NC at the end of the month. We went to the MGM Casino for a bit - didn't win a darn thing. On the way back we stopped at the Windsor casino to pick up the rebate. I qualified for a free buffet so we decided to have dinner there. I had a bit more than I should have but didn't stuff myself like I used to. I had a salad, no dessert.
Got back to Toronto around 10, surfed a bit, to bed before midnight.

Monday:
Awake at 4am. Cereal with soy milk for breakfast.
Had lunch downtown with a friend - had edamame and something called Pizza Bianca - plain dough with oil and rosemary. On the way home I stopped and got some groceries. At home I took a nap. Then did laundry.
It was so hot in the apartment - despite having the fans going it was uncomfortable.

Tuesday:
Awake around 7:30. Very lazy - laid in bed for a while, listened to iPod.
No breakfast - had a muffin when got to work. Had a slice of pizza and a Pepsi for lunch.
Did more laundry when I got home - snacked on Ritz baked chips (nice and salty). Just before bed had an ice cream sandwich.

Wednesday:
Awake at 6:30. Tried to straighten up the apartment since the superintendent will be in later to check the smoke alarms.
Fixed some Red River for breakfast. Surfed a bit.
Then went to the gym. Was a bit late (shocker, I know). Didn't weigh myself - although I have a feeling things are pretty much the same. A good workout, 15 min of cardio.
To work on time. Not much happening. Managed to watch Harper's Apology and most of the follow up speeches. Wasn't impressed with Harper but Dion and Layton's speeches were good. Duceppe was very political but he did make a few good points.
Had a headache all afternoon - perhaps it is the weather or just stress because of my brothers.
After work was very tired and hungry so ended up going to McD's. A slip on the resolution - bought a magazine - Toronto Life (Farmer Markets guide). Gassed up the car - well 1/2 a tank, anyway.
Home around 8:30pm - surfed and watched the rebroadcast of the Euro matches. CBC News and a doc on the residential schools.

Well - as you can see it doesn't take much to knock me off my diet. And, for someone who is trying to become a vegetarian, I sure am eating a lot of meat! A big steak on Saturday, a few small pieces at the buffet, meat on the pizza and a burger on two different days - - 5 of the last 6 days! jeez. That certainly needs some work!

Apology

I wish my mother had lived to see today. Today the government apologizes for what she and far too many other people had to go through.

232 - Friday

Up a pound from Wednesday. I'm blaming the potato chips I had during the hockey game....and the fact that I didn't do that much cardio on Wednesday and none on Thursday.

Another work-out session today. Was still feeling a bit of a twinge from the previous session - but nothing painful.
Lot of ab work today - my PT wants me to be able to do sit-ups on my own soon. also some lunges, leg work, push ups, leg press (4 X 20 X 160 lbs), barbell work, planks. Then 15 minutes of cardio.
He wants me to see a dietician to help me lose weight and make sure that I'm getting enough protein with this vegetarian plan I've started on.

Work was good - lunch was better! Fridays is Japanese. I ordered the vegetable tempura and cucumber sushi. It was soooo good. And I wasn't really stuffed afterwards. Matter of fact I'm just getting hungry now - 7 hours later.

Off to my sister's place for the weekend. Hopefully the diet won't be all shot to hell.

Thursday

Went grocery shopping after work last night. And I was pretty good - - all things considered. I didn't buy the Ben & Jerry's. I got Bryers 100 calorie ice cream sandwiches - which was the same price as the B&J. But I did get a bag of Lays chips to munch on while watching the game.
Came home and fixed dinner: Amy's vegetarian sandwich pocket, salad, carrots, Pepsi.

Then I watched the hockey game. Am I the only hoping Detroit would lose so that they could win the Cup in front of a home crowd on Saturday?
Bad fan. That's me! ;-)

But I was happy when they won. Despite the Pens fans booing the Conn Smythe being awarded or when the Cup was presented to Lidstrom.

Today I woke up a little bit sore - not painful, just when I moved a certain way I could feel it. But it was all good.

Had breakfast and headed off to work. Not much happening today - other than things were a mess earlier in the morning. Stupid computers.....or something like that.
I had packed a lunch - except a sandwich! I ended up getting an egg salad sandwich in the caf. Totally forgot that today was BBQ day. Not that I would have been able to get anything since there weren't any vegetarian options on the menu. go figure!
Anyway - a nice big lunch. Was full, didn't feel like snacking - - until Albert gave me a giant chocolate chip cookie from the caf. It was kind of warm and nice and chewy. yum.

Nothing on tv tonight so just channel surfed for a while.

Made sweet potatoes fries for dinner. I've had them when I've eaten out but have never made them myself before.

Irony

While I was surfing yesterday I finished up the archives at Half of Me. Don't you love the irony of avoiding exercise while reading about someone running a 1/2 marathon? hee.

Went to the gym this morning. (Checked my weight - still 231). Got there in time to do a good warm-up before the session started with the trainer. An awesome work-out. He's started me on circuit training. Push-ups (15) and leg press (20 reps of120lbs) , plank on an exercise ball (25 sec.) and sumo squats (25lbs), hamstring lifts (40lbs, I think) and squats, running between cones and work with a kettle ball (5lbs), steps with weights (different weight and lift each time) and sit-ups (although he has to help me sit up. Next week he says I should be able to do it on my own). Then I did 15 minutes of cardio.
The only problem I had was the velcro on my sports bra stap felt like it was going to give out. Every time I lifted a weight I could hear the velcro struggling to break away. But - it held! My girls didn't escape and give me a black eye!

Then I came to work and ruined all the exercise by having a chocolate chip muffin!
Even though I had breakfast this morning I was quite wolfish. No doubt because I burned lots of calories worrying about being blinded by my boobs. I really have to arrange some suitable snacks.

I didn't bother to break up my surfing by packing lunch last night and didn't have time this morning. I had lunch at work: chicken stir fry, salad, Pepsi. So my vegetarianism lasted 3 1/2 days! I used chopsticks so I would have to eat slowly. And I ate everything - even the egg plant (which I always avoid. But it was actually good) and broccoli (another avoid food because of gas issues. Again - quite good).

Loooooonnnnggggg day

Totally bagged all day - stayed up watching the hockey game last night. Well, I didn't watch the whole game - I only lasted until the end the second overtime period. So maybe 12:15am? Which was a killer because I had to be to work at 4:30am.
Yeah - a little over 3 hours of sleep!
Was awake by 4 and had time to have breakfast and thankfully I had packed a lunch the night before.
But a bit of a slip up - I had a chocolate croissant around 5am and then another at 9am. Had lunch at 11:30am - which was a bit late all things considered.
Called my sister when I got home from work. Then did laundry.
And then, instead of doing anything useful, I surfed the net for a while, played Spider Solitaire and watched tv. I almost nodded off a couple times but managed to stay awake.

I was tempted to go out and grab something for dinner but I knew I'd just end up with something from Wendy's or pizza. So I checked out the fridge: veggie burgers! I'd bought them last month and forgot about them. I popped one in the oven, heated up some brown rice that I fixed on Monday, had a salad and some carrots. And a Pepsi. Wasn't stuffed but wasn't tempted to snack either.

I know I should have gone to the gym and done some cardio but I was just too tired.

231 - gah!

Last night I went to bed around 11ish. However - the Pepsi I had around 8, the upstairs neighbours and idiots in the parking lot conspired against me. It seems I'd just fall asleep and something would be dropped on the floor (upstairs) or someone had to blast the car horn or slam a door - or just chat under my window. Last time I checked it was 1:30am. oh good lord.
Then the idiots upstairs were up and about at 3am - rolling around on the office chair. Personally I think it has something to do with sex games but I'm not entirely sure. I ended up getting out of bed well before the alarm was set to go.
Fixed breakfast of Red River cereal - with dried cranberries in it. While that was cooking I tried the rice milk I got yesterday. I had this list of stuff I wanted to get when I went grocery shopping but I forgot it. When I was at the store the only thing, other than veggies, that I could remember was rice milk. So I got a litre - which was about 50 cents cheaper than 2% milk and almost a dollar cheaper than soy. Before bed last night I put it in the fridge. Pulled it out this morning to try it - - as I've never had it before. It was vanilla flavour - a bit sweet but o.k., I guess. I drank most of the glass and put the last bit of it in my cereal.

While I was fixing my dinner last night I also put some stuff together for my lunch - green salad with dried cranberries and sunflower seeds and Italian dressing, some baby carrots with tzatzki sauce, water, Pepsi. While I was waiting for my cereal to cook I thought, "Why not put on some rice for lunch, too?" So I did. Which was good and all except that it made me a bit late for work. Yep - out of bed over an hour and a half before I have to be there and I still end up being late!
The funniest thing? I didn't eat the rice! The salad, carrots and water filled me up. I left the rice in the office fridge and brought the Pepsi home with me - - I'll have it with my dinner.

Since I didn't get much sleep I was totally bagged all morning. Even though I had breakfast I ate a chocolate croissant less than an hour later. gah! Not only that but I had another within 2 hours of that. double gah! But at 11:30 I sat down and had lunch. Was done work at 12:30. Came home and made a few phone calls and then went out to the gym. I walked as it is only a few blocks away. I was almost there before I realized that I'd forgotten my holds-the-girls-in-place sports bra. gah!
Had a nice warm-up and then on the eliptical for 20 minutes. Had to take a water break and then I was just too tired to go back for another 20 minutes. So I limped home.

Dinner is in the oven - vegetarian sheppard's pie from Lick's. Will also have some carrots. And the Pepsi.

BTW - I weighed myself on the upstairs scale at the gym. 231 - so down 2 pounds from little over a week ago.

233 (?) - Another weight loss blog

I think my weight was 233 the last time I weighed-in at the gym. Actually - it was approx. 233 on the office scale (like the ones they have in the doctor's office -white with the sliding weights). However - the scale downstairs in the gym (a regular bathroom scale) had me at about 225. Obviously I like the downstairs scale a lot more!

I've been working out with weights and have started on cardio. Not the treadmill but the eliptical. Two minutes at an easy pace and 4-5 minutes a bit faster. I usually last about 30 to 40 minutes. I try to increase it a few minutes each day - - some days are easier than others.

But my big problem is what I eat. Usually - I. EAT. GARBAGE!!! Lately I've been trying to change things - actually having breakfast for a change, smaller portions for other meals, salads, cutting back snacking on chocolate bars and cookies. It is difficult to cut back on the Pepsi and chips, though. When I do eat out (Wendy's) I have a kid size combo - burger, salad and ice tea (although I suppose I should have the diet Coke, eh?).

I've recently decided to go vegetarian. For the past few months I've been cutting back on meat - now it's a weekend thing for making it thru the week. A burger if I'm by myself or a steak or bbq ribs or chicken wings if I'm hanging out with friends or watching hockey.

My sister, B, ( 4 1/2 years older), was recently diagnosed as borderline diabetic. Both of our parents were diabetic - Dad didn't take care of himself and drank and died before he was 60, Mom was insulin dependent for the last 15 years or so of her life. She died in 2007 of pneumonia and complications from a heart attack. B has stopped drinking the wine she'd have a couple nights a week, has changed her diet and started exercising. Her doctor says she's doing pretty good.

Before - the whole diabetes thing was something that was way off in the future. But with B's diagnosis it seemed to suddenly have a deadline. So - no more fooling around. I've got to lose weight and start taking care of myself.

Last week I was reading a knitting blog and the writer proposed something she called a Mid Year Resolution. So that's what this blog is - - me keeping track of my resolutions.

Resolutions:
1. Eat healthier/exercise more = Lose weight
2. Stop buying stuff!

O.K. - off to bed now. I have to be up at 4am. That's less than 6 hours! yikes.
